Why polyphenols matter for health

Ongoing research shows that polyphenol-rich, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil may support long-term wellness. This includes benefits linked to cardiovascular health, metabolic balance, cognitive function, and cellular protection.

Polyphenols are natural compounds that help combat oxidative stress, a process closely linked to aging and chronic disease. As such, more polyphenols mean more potential benefits. But only if the oil is truly fresh and properly made.

How EVOO becomes rich in polyphenols

High-polyphenol EVOO doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of intention at every step.

At Green Autumn Revival, we work exclusively with single-source Greek producers who prioritize tree care, early harvest, low-temperature milling, and mechanical extraction:

  • Early-harvest olives contain higher concentrations of polyphenols.
  • Cold-pressed milling helps preserve the polyphenols.
  • Mechanical extraction prevents degradation.

These choices directly influence the polyphenol content of the EVOO we produce.

The EU standard for high-polyphenol olive oil

Under EU Regulation 432/2012, an EVOO can carry a health claim only if it meets strict criteria.

The oil must contain at least 250 mg/kg of polyphenols. This equals at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 grams of olive oil. That daily intake, about 1 tablespoon, is required for the documented benefit.

At Green Autumn Revival, we recommend at least 2 tablespoons of high-polyphenol EVOO daily as part of a wellness ritual.

Why lab testing matters

Polyphenols decline over time. That’s why testing matters at bottling. Oils tested around 500 mg/kg are more likely to remain above the 250 mg/kg threshold for at least 12 months.

Green Autumn Revival verifies polyphenol levels through laboratory analysis and shares results openly on our website.

We maintain complete transparency, always.
