My family, the Margelis, have lived and worked in Lefkada, Greece since immigrating from southern Italy in the 14th century. We have several family businesses in Lefkada including two small boutique hotels (www.santaemelia.com and www.calmview.gr), and our well-known honey, and award-winning olive oil business. My grandfather, who was born in the early 1900’s started cultivating olive trees, and my father has been involved in olive cultivation since learning the trade from his father. My grandfather, along with two cousins, owned a small olive mill to extract his own oil and the oil of the residents of their small village.
Today, my wife Voula and I, operate the business started by my grandfather. Our two children, Spiros and Angelina, help us during the summer, at the city’s farmer’s market. I am also a firefighter, for the island of Lefkada, assisting our citizens in time of urgency and trouble. For generations, our family has cultivated Koroneiki and Asprolia (native to Greek ionian islands) olives with a commitment to quality and a heartfelt respect for nature. Our family has discovered that working with nature, helps them see the world differently, with an open heart and an open mind: it's not easy, but it gives us all immense satisfaction.

Location: Vasiliki is a town in the municipal unit of Apollonioi, on the island of Lefkada, Greece. It is situated on the south coast, 4 km south of Agios Petros and 25 km southwest of Lefkada (city).
